You know the accent in Charlie and Lola? Well, recently I grew really fond of it and would like to be able to speak in that accent. I heard it's called Home Counties accent. I was wondering whether there was a sight where I could learn or maybe some movies I could watch to pick the accent up.
Yes, Home Counties is the accent used around (note, not normally IN) London. It's the posh end of modern British English. I think of people like Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Keira Knightly. Most of the cast of Love Actually in fact! That might be a good place to start. Picking up an accent is as easy as mimicking like crazy (not just the sounds, but the mannerisms and speech patterns too).
