Does anyone know anything about a roadside plaque regarding a John Duncan, who died at Moores Fort,KY?
My sister found a roadside memorial sign in Appalachia somewhere honoring my ancester, but can't remember where. She had a picture, but it doesn't say where it is. He was killed by indians in 1774.
On the sign: "Moore's Fort- near here, on Clinch River, stood Moore's Fort. Daniel Boone, on his way to Kentucky with a party of settlers stopped here for some time. On September 29, 1774, indians made an attack here from ambush, killing John Duncan."
The above is on the back side of the sign. The sign is located in Russell Co., Virginia not Kentucky.
